A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE TALENTED NORTEÑO MUSIC GROUP
Miami, FL (July 21, 2025) - FONO, one of the leading Mexican music labels under Universal Music Group, is proud to announce the signing of Los Peña, a vibrant norteño music group with roots in Dallas, Texas and strong ties to Cadereyta Jiménez, Nuevo León. With a fresh and unique sound, Los Peña join the label to continue carving out their place in the music scene.
Formed by the young siblings Jorge, Amy, and Manuel, this talented group began their musical journey in a very traditional way: as a fara fara trio with the essential instrumentation—tololoche, bajo sexto, and accordion. This intimate and deeply rooted norteño format allowed them to hone their skills and craft their distinctive sound during the early years of their career.
Over time, their talent and dedication led them to formalize the project and expand their musical proposal. This evolution opened the door to exciting and unique experiences. One of the most notable was their participation in the series “Cóyotl: Héroe y Bestia”, where they not only had the honor of recording the entire soundtrack but also made their acting debut, revealing yet another facet of their artistic versatility.
In addition, Los Peña have explored contemporary genres, collaborating with acclaimed producer Camilo Lara in Mexico City to experiment with música tumbada, showcasing their ability to blend traditional sounds with modern trends.
Los Peña continue to create and are now preparing to begin a new phase alongside FONO, ready to share their music with the world. Their journey—from their beginnings in Texas to their growth and establishment in Nuevo León—is a testament to their perseverance and passion for norteño music.
With this signing, FONO reaffirms its commitment to discovering and nurturing new voices in Mexican music.
