ON THIS OCCASION, THE GROUP PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE SPORT OF BODY SLAMS WITH A SONG THAT DRAWS A PARALLEL BETWEEN LIFE'S CHALLENGES AND THE ACTIVITY IN THE RING, THROUGH LYRICS DEDICATED TO THE LEGENDARY MASKED WRESTLER “NENUCO RIVERO”
Miami, FL (September 9, 2025) – Since their debut, the members of La Nueva Ola de Cumbia (a project that is taking dance and celebration to new levels) have made their passion for wrestling clear, as one of their distinctive marks is wearing masks in all their performances and music releases.
Today, the quintet portrays their love for lucha libre with “Lucha Libre,” a single in which, besides comparing the blows in the ring to life’s difficulties, they take the opportunity to pay homage to one of the most popular figures in the field, the masked wrestler “Nenuco Rivero,” who in his creations boasts authentic icons of wrestling, such as the mask of El Penta Zero Miedo, currently the top star in the ropes.
Supported by their characteristic electronic cumbia sound with pop influences, the group leads us through a rhythm as joyful as it is reflective, since the verses are dedicated to the daily effort we make at work in order not to give up against the body slams life gives us, taking as an example the story of “Nenuco,” who is a symbol of perseverance and determination.
In this way, La Nueva Ola de Cumbia fulfills one of the traditional rituals of the genre: creating a piece that can be danced to and enjoyed, but at the same time has lyrics that move us because of its message.
